Small Billiken1 1/4" x 1/2" Billikins are good luck charms long associated with Alaska, and were deemed the official mascot of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition held in Seattle in 1909. Many of the original A-Y-P billikins were carved by Alaska Natives in walrus ivory. This piece is cast directly from one of the older billikins which was carved from a walrus tooth. The billikin is sometimes referred to as "the god of wishful thinking".
