This design is based on a Tsimshian appliqué ceremonial vestment collected at Port Simpson, British Columbia by James Swan sometime before 1888. I had to find an illustration of a halibut as seen by marine biologists to add the fins missing from the original design. My carvings (a symmetrically matched pair) were executed in deer bone.
