Anthropomorph1 1/4" x 2 1/8" This image is based on a scientific illustration in Richard McClure, Jr.'s Master of Arts thesis on Dalles area rock art. The original petroglyph site is now inundated by a dam on the lower Columbia River. James Keyser, author of Indian Rock Art of the Columbia Plateau, believes this human-like figure probably represents a mythical being. Executed in the "Long Narrows Style", the arc with projecting rays may represent a shaman's headdress or the possession of supernatural power.
