Raven

This design was inspired by a modern appliqué design, as well as a raven headstone carved in the early 1900s by the Haida artist Charles Edenshaw. I carved a matching pair in pipestone, sometimes called "red argillite". Raven is the trickster figure on the Northwest Coast, and the story of Raven stealing the sun is widespread.
